Apple Cider Pulled Pork
Ingredients
For the Pulled Pork
- 4–5 pound pork butt (pork shoulder)
- 2 cups apple cider
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Optional: 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- Optional: barbecue sauce for serving

Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Pork
Pat the pork shoulder dry with paper towels. This helps the seasoning stick better and improves flavor.
In a small bowl, combine:
- Smoked paprika
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Chili powder
- Brown sugar
Rub the seasoning mixture all over the pork until fully coated.
Step 2: Prepare the Slow Cooker
Place sliced onions and minced garlic into the bottom of the slow cooker.
Set the seasoned pork on top.
Pour the apple cider around the pork, not directly over the top so the seasoning stays in place.
Add Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard if using.
